Spring’s Here!

New Hives, Buzzing Bees & What’s Next at Apiary Select

As winter leaves the Blue Ridge, our little corner of the world comes alive again—and that includes the bees. At Apiary Select, we’ve been out in the yard with paint-stained hands and buzzing hives, doing what we love best: preparing for another season of natural, small-batch honey.

This time of year is special. The field mustard and dandelions are blooming, the sun is just warm enough to wake up the colonies, and the air carries that familiar, gentle hum of spring activity. Our overwintered hives are looking strong, and the queens are already laying.

We’re expanding the apiary this year, adding a few new hives (painted with love with the help of our kids), and setting out swarm traps to catch any adventurous colonies on the move. It’s all hands on deck, and it’s beautiful work.

No honey quite yet—patience is the name of the game—but if all goes well, we’ll be harvesting by June. We’re speaking with a VERY local retailer (across the road from the bees!) about selling Apiary Select honey, and we’ll be sharing updates here and on Facebook and Instagram all season long. Newsletter subscribers will be the first to find out when our honey is available, so sign up today!

Stay tuned. The bees are just getting started!
